After retirement from his profession as an educator in California, Micronesia and Japan, Barry devoted his energies to his lifelong avocation of creative woodworking.  His interest in nature inspires his wood culptures of birds, and his love of the diverse textures of various woods brings a special character to his sculptures. He enjoys using innovative techniques for his constructions. often the wood itself dictates the form of the final product.
